Imagination
hymnal meter

East of the sun, west of the moon.
Past where the winds strong blow.
Past easy roads, whistling in tune.
Past mountains few dare go.

Far away, over land and sea,
are where stories unfold.
Beyond our little memories
are quests epic and bold.

Fear not the empty, hard years.
These are the hours we fill!
Stories are sweeter than plain beer,
give us a deeper thrill!

Tells us what kindness needs doing.
We entertain and dream:
think up riddles, puns, and musings—
taste how choices would seem.

So embrace the long, boring hours!
Look to the stories, see
how easily the boundary blurs!
For off my mind will be:

East of the sun, west of the moon.
Past where the winds strong blow.
Past easy roads, whistling in tune.
Past mountains few dare go.
